[haflingerfriends] Re: breeding out the Drafty

I have to chime in on this one. I am not saying the modern type Haflinger is a bad thing but they are not for me. Everyone has their own opinion on the perfect Haflinger but I also LOVE the drafty type Haflinger! I had QH's for years before I started with the Haflinger breed. The first one I saw was a drafty Haflinger mare that was as big as a tank! That is what attracted me to the breed. After all, they are a DRAFT horse. I just do not understand why folks want them to look more like a QH. My mare, Allie (Alice LJH) is 13.3H and has the smoothest trot you could ask for. Yet she can pull a buggy all day long if you want to. Just my opinion.
