[haflingerfriends] Re: breeding out the Drafty

I too will say I LOVE the Drafty type haflinger. that is how they started. These 'modern' type haflingers look too much like a QH or arab with just lots more hair. I've got a 13.2hh mare that is a tank! size 2 foot and you can ride her bareback at a trot for miles!! SO SMOOTH!! My little comint 3yr old stallion also has tons of bone and filling out nicely! MY DREAM stallion, Max JMN which you can find on the AHR website...is down the street from me and he is just stunning! As wide as he is tall...can pull like no tomorrow and float when moving like he isn't touching the ground. I've ridden some 'modern' haffy's and i do not like the way they ride at all compared to the 'classics'. That is my goal for my breeding program...short stocky draft horses. What they are supposed to be.
