[haflingerfriends] BOSS

BOSS, as you correctly assumed, are Black Oil Sunflower Seeds, the very same ones you feed to birds. You feed them hull and all to the horse. Mine love them, even the picky 29 year old gelding. They are very high in oil. Start feeding them slowly. Buy a cheap set of measuring cups. Feed 1/4 cup and work up 1/4 cup a day until you reach two cups total a day. (That was all the gelding needed.) Check with your vet, county agent or feed representative to see if more than 2 cups total a day would be Ok for your horse. My gelding weighs 1300 lbs and 2 cups did him just fine. It will put weight on them and help with hair coat quality.

I have my 4 yo Morgan mare on it to help with her hair quality. She weighs about 1000 and gets 2 cups a day as well. I have seen better results with BOSS than with the Omega supplements, Biotin supplements and corn oil I tried.

I was skeptical, but a friend of mine tried it on her retired horses and she was very happy with the results. So I gave it a shot. I am glad I did.

Important tip: use only Black Oil seeds NOT the other ones.
