[haflingerfriends] Bits

Hi Gang, I just have to jump in here for the sake of Haflingers. I never liked bits in the first place!!! I just got back from Massachusetts from visiting a Natural Horse Trainer Bob Sadowski. He showed me how to be " with " my horse and how to work with my horse all without force. He showed me a video Alexander Nevzorov, The Horse Crucified & Risen . It was very upsetting, all about how damaging any bit is in a horses mouth. Our society has gotten used to using bits, if one doesn't work like we want it to, get a more severe one to make him do what we want. We have all seen the pictures of the jumpers with the flash bridle, trying to crank the horses mouth shut and watching the rider see sawing the bit back and forth to collect and control, at least in their minds they are. Those type of things done to the horses mouth, do so much damage that you would never believe it. It even does neurological damage. All for a blue ribbon or recognition??? I will never do that to a haflinger or any horse again. Wouldn't you want to partner up with your horse and have him work in harmony with you. It is so much easier than trying to bully a 1000 lb animal. He is the kindness teacher I have ever met and He asks the horse to join up and you would not believe how well it works. There are petitions out to do away with the bit rule in the bigger dressage circles and I hope it goes through! Bob Sadowsi is my friend, trainer & teacher. I have to say He is also modest and humble!!! He is coming to Western Pa in April for an event & clinic, I can't wait for my friends to see all his ideas and teachings. Bob says, hang around with people who know more than you do and you will learn something? If you are at all curious, his website is www.PeaceHavenFarm.com This is not a commercial for Bob, I have learned his ideas and they make such good sense that I just have to share. I will be going back to Massachusetts for an apprenticeship!!! I'm using his techniques now that I'm back. My very smart Haflingers, all Haflingers are the smartest, just love the new ideas and have responded so well, happy campers. Bob also stresses safety on and off your horse and how to have a very happy and enjoyable ride. If you have any questions, you may e- mail me privately fmbobal@verizon.net Francine Bobal www.sugarcreekhaflingerfarm.com P.S. I have written a blog on my website about my trip to Massachusetts and have some pictures of Bob teachings. One of my haflingers who was born on our farm is the star of some of his clinics, Ahliver twist!!!
